Device repurposing is the process of collecting, refurbishing and repurposing old/legacy technology when organisations replace their technology with newer models.
These old devices can be repurposed and distributed among digitally excluded communities.
Connecting Cambridgeshire aims to promote suitable access to devices for all residents, and the use of device repurposing can enable this, while also supporting environmentally friendly policies and promoting a circular economic model.
We are encouraging businesses and organisations to participate in device repurposing to help bridge the digital divide, promote social value and encourage sustainable practises.
Partnership with Sustainable Tech 4 Good (ST4G)

Connecting Cambridgeshire has partnered with ST4G to support businesses and organisations repurpose their excess/legacy tech and help facilitate and drive more digital inclusion and sustainability across the county.
This partnership aims to encourage businesses and organisations to repurpose large amounts of technology, through ST4G’s complete solution to safely and securely remove any data before reusing, recycling, and repurposing the tech which Connecting Cambridgeshire will then distribute to digitally excluded individuals and communities.
