Connecting Cambridgeshire and Sustainable Tech 4 Good have partnered to create a Tech Repurposing Pathway aimed at tackling digital exclusion and reducing e-waste across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
Connecting Cambridgeshire works to improve digital infrastructure across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, to drive economic growth, help businesses and communities thrive, and make it easier to access public services.
Sustainable Tech 4 Good has been leading the way since 2020 in the sustainable, data-secure reuse of excess tech from business, delivering devices to help lift people out of digital exclusion and the increasing disadvantage it brings.
With a proven track record of delivery, Sustainable Tech 4 Good has so far delivered 7,221 devices to tackle digital exclusion (1,585 here in Cambridgeshire), through a network of 135 charity/NFP partners, and prevented over 11,600 kgs of e-waste since 2020.
Sustainable Tech 4 Good has been pioneering the secure, sustainable reuse of excess business tech since 2020, helping to combat digital exclusion and reduce environmental waste. Through its network of 135 charity and not-for-profit partners, the organisation has delivered over 7,200 devices — including 1,585 in Cambridgeshire alone — and prevented more than 11,600 kg of e-waste from going to landfill.
Will Plant, Digital Inclusion Lead for Connecting Cambridgeshire, said: “The Tech Repurposing Pathway is a win-win for businesses and our communities. This partnership with Sustainable Tech 4 Good gives companies a secure, sustainable way to repurpose excess tech, helping them meet CSR and environmental goals while directly supporting people who are digitally excluded.
“Digital inclusion is about ensuring everyone has the opportunity to benefit from being online. So we’re encouraging businesses across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to look at the pathway and take action, as your unused tech could be the key to someone accessing vital services, learning new skills, or finding employment.”
Sue Gowling, Founder of Sustainable Tech 4 Good, said:“I am delighted that we are partnering with Connecting Cambridgeshire to deliver the Tech Repurposing Pathway. Together we can scale up the impact in Cambridgeshire and, with the help of businesses, enable more people to escape the blight of digital exclusion. This makes for a happier, more connected and productive community, while mitigating environmental impacts through sustainable reuse – a win for everyone.”
As well as donating devices through its charity partners, Sustainable Tech 4 Good also provides affordable, sustainable tech for purchase through its www.Tech4Change.co.uk online sales platform, where sales support further donations of devices to those without the means to purchase – All Tech 4 All People™.
The joint Tech Repurposing Pathway looks to build on this success and drive increased digital inclusion in our region while supporting businesses with their sustainability and CSR goals.
