Celebrating Connecting Cambridgeshire’s achievements in 2024

This year, the Connecting Cambridgeshire programme has made considerable progress toward ensuring everyone in the region can benefit from reliable, high-speed digital connectivity.

In 2024 we’ve supported the expansion of full fibre broadband as part of the Government’s Project Gigabit, connecting thousands of homes and businesses and achieving the government’s target of 85% gigabit-capable coverage a year early, and helping communities thrive in an increasingly digital world. We’ve also taken a bold step into the future with our 5G Open RAN trials, exploring cutting-edge mobile technologies that have the potential to revolutionise connectivity.

But it’s not just about the technology – it’s about people. Our digital inclusion work is focused on building the foundations to help everyone access the opportunities the digital world offers, including vital public services.

All of this supports our mission to create a greener, fairer, and more connected Cambridgeshire – ensuring no one is left behind.
