Premises are included in the Connecting Cambridgeshire programme which will deliver improvements to the broadband infrastructure that will enable many homes and businesses to receive superfast broadband speeds (minimum 24Mbps)* while others will be able to receive fibre broadband speeds of between 2Mbps and 24 Mbps.
Premises in Stonea are connected directly to the exchange and are therefore too far away to receive faster broadband at this time.
The Connecting Cambridgeshire Programme is working to ensure that everyone in the programme gets as fast a speed as possible given their geographical location. Premises in Stonea are being considered for the extension of coverage during phase 3 of the Connecting Cambridgeshire Programme. Planning is underway for this third phase of the rollout, which will commence from Summer 2017.
Residents may be interested to know about other technologies that can be used, where appropriate, in the interim. There is information about these on the Connecting Cambridgeshire website which can be found here. There is also further information on our website about the Government’s Better Broadband Subsidy Scheme which, if you meet all the eligibility criteria, may provide an interim solution.
