Teamwork trebles with superfast broadband

An international events company based in rural Cambridgeshire has seen its business increase three-fold since getting superfast broadband.

Creative Team Events has expanded to bigger offices and taken on new staff to meet the growing demand to provide innovative team building activities for companies all over the world.

Mark and Lisa Hunter founded the business 17 years ago and run it from their home in Spaldwick and offices in nearby Ellington, which allows them to share childcare of their young family.

Good Internet access and an interactive website have become increasingly important to showcase the company’s creative approach to corporate events – from drumming sessions at conferences to themed parties as far afield as Dubai, Texas and Beijing.

With superfast broadband they can share videos and photos, stream live events, liaise directly with staff and respond quickly to enquiries from customers in different time zones. The increased bandwidth also allows them to work more flexibly to fit in with family life.

Mark said: “The Internet is really important to us. Our customers are worldwide and the faster we can get back to them the more chance they will come to us. We have seen at least 27% upturn in enquiries recently, so it has had a dramatic effect.

“Before we got a higher bandwidth, as a keen musician, I found it frustrating waiting for music videos to download because when you feel inspired you want to keep the momentum going. It also means we can edit our own videos of events and get them back to clients.

Lisa said: “Having superfast broadband makes family life in a rural village so much more manageable. Our business is creative and active so it helps us convey that to our customers.”
